How To Sell Your RV Or Camper Trailer
Selling your RV or camping trailer/fifth wheel, and getting the maximum amount of money out of your trailer can be a tricky process. We've taken our 30 years of selling experience and have given you the top 6 things to do before/during selling your RV. Take these easy steps to maximize your profit from your RV sale:
1. Make sure your RV is in working order. Don't let things like headlights, taillights, wheels, alignments and interior cabinets, drawers and such ruin your RV sale
2. Cleanliness equals money. Suprising enough, many sellers don't take the time to do a thorough cleaning of their RV or camping trailer. Even if you have had the RV for sale for a long period of time, take the time to wash the exterior and interior as much as possible. Clean wheels, inside and outside of cupboards, counter tops and such. Put a fragrance on the interior. A nice smelling motor home can close a sale!
3. Be prepared to haggle over the price of your RV. Put your starting price at least 20% higher then what you would like to receive for the motor home. Everyone knows buying used property means haggling over the price. If you put too low of a price, or don't want to haggle, many potential buyers will be put off, and you may lose the sale of your RV.
4. Be patient. You may receive many inquiries about your RV up front. Be patient, and don't take the first offer you receive. Get at least 5-10 offers before you choose the best one. You may get a buyer that is willing to pay the full asking price (that 20% over your asking price).
5. Don't let the buyer know that you are urgent to sell your RV. Even if you are in a tight spot and need to offload an rv or 5th wheel right away, don't let your buyer know this. They will take advantage of the situation and make you a very low offer on your RV.
6. Be friendly. I've come across sellers that are grumpy, or rude. I'm looking for a RV owner that is friendly, because that means they were friendly to their RV. I also don't feel comfortable haggling with a rude or grumpy person. You often times feel like you are being taken advantage of.
